This multi-award-winning restaurant sits proudly at the top of a beautifully converted seventeenth century palazzo and is the signature restaurant of the Xara Palace Hotel, located in the magnificent historic city of Mdina. With its rich, earthy and blue-grey tones with plush carpet, velvet upholstered chairs, dark wooden beams, gold-framed paintings and mirrors, the restaurant is opulent yet very comfortable. Large framed windows look out over the stunning courtyard and feature breath-taking views of the countryside. Chef Kevin Bonello’s culinary flair and imagination draw on influences from across the Mediterranean; each dish is elaborately prepared and beautifully presented. The menu changes with the seasons, and local produce is used wherever possible.

Starter dishes may include pan-fried Scottish scallops with lentils du Puy, celeriac velouté and roasted hazelnuts with hazelnut oil, and the foie gras terrine with truffle oil. Move on to the roasted Charolais beef tenderloin, or grilled milk-fed veal tenderloin, fried veal sweetbreads and dauphinoise potatoes, carrot purée, and baby rainbow carrots in a veal jus, and finish off your experience with an orange and Grand Marnier soufflé, or roasted, poached pears, warm lemon cake and saffron sablée. The restaurant also features a selection of over two-hundred and fifty wines in a climate-controlled wine cellar, categorised by grape variety and region.
